A partire da Venerdì 16 Luglio, riprenderanno le attività didattiche al Museo Paleontologico “Giulio Maini”. Nella particolare veste dei laboratori in serata, si comincerà con “Ciro, il dinosauro bambino”, un laboratorio-gioco adatto per bambini dai 6 ai 12 anni, che aiuterà a conoscere meglio, attraverso spiegazioni e attività, uno dei più importanti reperti italiani dell’epoca dei dinosauri. Per questo evento il Museo Maini aprirà alle ore 19:45 mentre il laboratorio comincerà alle ore 20 per una durata di circa un’ora e mezza, si ricorda che è necessaria la prenotazione telefonica (da effettuare al numero 3402748989 dal lunedì al giovedì, dalle 9:00 alle 12:00 e dalle 14:00 alle 18:00) così come l’obbligo di indossare la mascherina durante l’evento che si terrà all’interno del Museo. Il costo del laboratorio è di 5 euro a bambino, i posti sono limitati a 12 e non sono previste possibilità di consumazioni per l’evento

Saturday, May 19, the Museum joins the European Night of Museums. ONE NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: THE TERRITORY, THE STORY AND FLAVOURS, extraordinary night opening, from 8 p.m. to midnight, with wine tasting.

You can visit the Museum in a new guise, discovering the extraordinary collections of fossils and minerals during one of the most important nights because it is dedicated to the flavors of the territory.

In the light of the Moon, you will not fail to be fascinated by the sparkling of the quartz or the stories told by our fossils, accompanied by a good tasting of local wines.

In accordance with the municipal administration of Ovada, the  Calappilia association proposes Spring time at the museum. 15 years of museum. Some events to remember and rediscover our museo, activities dedicated to the fascinating world of natural sciences that include popular conferences, workshops for children, and temporary exhibitions. The second appointment is scheduled for Saturday 12 May at 4.30 pm with Mineralogy: passion & wonder conference – workshop for children (6 – 11 years old) by Massimo Umberto Tomalino, a mineralogy researcher.

During the conference the mineralogy will be told through the passion of scientists and the wonder of their discoveries. Like all the expressions of Nature, the study of minerals also reserves interesting surprises for the existence and progress of humanity; minerals will be explored with the intent to discover their wonder and the passion for mineralogy.

We will experiment the color and shape of the crystals, the hardness of the diamond and the density of gold, the magnetism of the magnetite, the radioactivity of the Rare Earths, the fluorescence of the aragonite, the double refraction of the Spato of Iceland; we will see the largest Platinum nugget in the world and the smallest collection of minerals in the world. We will discover many other curiosities and wonders of the mineral world.

Participation is free without reservation.

In agreement with the municipal administration of Ovada, the Calappilia association has created for the new year a series of educational workshops for children, dedicated to palaeontology and natural sciences, included in the initiative Learn to the museum.
Saturday 21st April 2018, at 4.30 pm there will be a workshop for children (6 – 11 years) “Fire stones. Lava, sulfur & co” curated by Marco Gaglione, the laboratory offers new ideas to unveil the mysteries of the hot heart of the volcanoes, crossing the burning clouds that emanate from them and then descending, in the bowels of the Earth, in search of the place where the rock of tomorrow is born. The wonder of discovery awaits the participants who will face the pitfalls of a place that mixes destruction and creation together.
As usual, the workshop lasts about an hour and has a cost of 5.00 euros per child, participation is allowed only with reservations to be made by calling the number 3477520743 (Alberto) after 5,00 pm.
The meeting is always at 4.15 pm at the museum, with the start of activities at 4.30 pm.

In 2018 the museum adheres to the project We Draw art promoted on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April by the Abbonamento Musei.it association. The initiative, now in its fourth edition, features children in numerous cultural sites in Piedmont. The small subscribers, all their friends and their families will be able to visit and discover the museums of the Region in a special way, drawing with Faber – Castell pencils and felt pens the works, the spaces and the architectures that most characterize them and thus give new shapes colors to the immense cultural and artistic heritage of our territory. Children and their families can thus live an unusual and enjoyable experience within the cultural sites of the Region. Much more than a museum workshop, the initiative is a unique opportunity to reinterpret the beauties of the territory, allowing itself to be conquered by the art of drawing, which becomes not only technical but also a tool for interpreting collections, architectures and in general suggestions that the museum spaces produce in young visitors.

In agreement with the municipal administration of Ovada, the museum will propose Saturday, April 7 at 430 pm the workshop for children (6-11 years). We draw the Paleontology (Drawing the Lost World) conducted by Marco Gaglione.
The museum is transformed into a plateau of deep South America, where a small group of brave explorers will discover animals deemed extinct and will try to immortalize them for the unbelievers left at home: welcome to the LOST WORLD !!!

The workshop will start at 4.30 pm (meeting at the museum at 4.15 pm) and will last about one hour and will cost € 5.00 per person.

Participation is allowed only with reservations required to be made by calling the number 3477520743 (Alberto) from 5.00 pm to 7,30 pm.
